Stump grinding on Lake Shetek cabin lots

Currie's real footprint isn't the town itself — it's the ring of cabins around Lake Shetek, southwest Minnesota's biggest lake. Most of the property owners we work with here don't live in Currie full-time. They come up Memorial Day through Labor Day on weekends, and they want any work on the cabin lot done either while they're on-site (so they can see what they're paying for) or during the week when they're not. That constraint is the whole game for scheduling. We plan Currie visits as batches — several cabins on the same trip, all confirmed by phone or text before we leave Marshall, with clear access instructions (gate codes, hidden keys, which side of the cabin the stump is on) because owners aren't always there to walk us in. Lake Shetek shoreline itself is classic lake work: cottonwood, willow, silver maple on saturated soil, with the occasional old oak or red pine on a higher cabin lot. Tracks and mats are standard. And because the state park is right there, we're careful about property lines — we grind private-cabin stumps only, never park land, unless coordinated through Parks staff.
